Automation

I have two books on my nightstand, The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss and The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco. I am in the process of reading them both and I can highly recommend both of them as they have so far had a very big impact on me. Both of these books suggest new ways of thinking about how you do business. They emphasize that your most valuable asset is time and that you should develop your business so that your time is most efficiently used. They also discuss possible ways of using business automation and freeing up some of your valuable time.

According to the dictionary the word automation is defined as “the technique of making an apparatus, a process, or a system operate automatically”. When it comes to the internet/websites making something automatic is very achievable. It is very time consuming and difficult the first time but every time you go through the process of automating it gets easier and you constantly find new ways of doing things.

Looking over some of the entrepreneurs that I most admire I realize most of them are individuals that have created passive income through automation. Individuals that have built up businesses that are now almost completely automatic so they themselves have the financial freedom and the time to enjoy life.

I have now become obsessed with the idea of business automation.

I’m a big fan of the 4 hour workweek but I wonder whether the basic premise is a myth. I’m sure Tim Ferris is a complete workaholic (but one who leverages his time very well). I’ll have to check that other book out as well!

I actually thought the same thing as I was reading his book and I agree with you that he is without a doubt a complete workaholic. But I have also been reading up on various entrepreneurs as well as experimenting myself and I am sure that it is possible to create a business that can create enough income for you to live comfortable but at the same time limiting you number of hours at work.
